Friends of St Mary’s
The primary purpose of ‘The Friends’ is to raise funds for the maintenance of the fabric of St Mary’s Church for the benefit of the whole village.
For nearly a thousand years the Parish Church has been the focal point of Bletchingley. As a Grade 1 listed building it is regarded as one of Surrey's finest historic churches. Whether you worship in the church or enjoy its presence in the village you will wish to see this ancient building preserved for succeeding generations.
The cost of upkeep is high. In recent years The Friends has contributed almost £25,000 for projects such as •restoring the stain glass windows, •repairing the roof, •replacing the lead roof over the South Aisle, renovating stonework on the tower.
If you would like to help with the work of the Friends by becoming a member or making a donation please pick up a leaflet in church or contact Barbara Nurse on Tel:01342 893685 or click here to e-mail•
